My little pumpkin...a late Valentine's day gift!

To my dearest little pumpkin,
We love you already! It has taken 7 cycles to conceive you but I am beginning to think you may embody our lucky number. You were conceived in our 7th cycle and your daddy and I will be married 7 years this year. We were married on 07/07/07.

The details:
We decided to grow our family a few months after our sweet pea, Oliver, turned two. There was something about a due date in October that just made me feel like this was our month. My last menstrual period was January 22nd, which means my due date will probably be October 29, 2014.  I ovulated on Cycle Day 16 and foolishly tested on Valentine's Day (CD 8) which was very early to get a positive test, but for sentimental reasons - I tested. The day after Valentine's Day (CD 9dpo), I tested and received a very faint line - after the indicated time period, twice. Adam saw it too, so I knew I hadn't imagined it, but they were very very faint and I wondered if they were just evaporation lines.
The next day, Sunday February 16th, (10dpo)I tested very early in the morning and it came up very very faint again on the wondfo (internet bulk tests) but after much deliberation I tested with a First Response Early Result (FRER). I set a timer for 3 minutes and did some browsing on facebook and after the ding, I saw 2 very distinct lines on the FRER! I was so excited and surprised, even despite the very faint lines. I got to planning out how I would tell Adam!

I had seen this idea on the internet and given that we have a lot of work to do on the house before pumpkin arrives, I thought it would be perfect! I took some crafting twine and wrapped it around the door of the spare (new baby) bedroom and tied it in a bow with a big tag that read: Room under construction until October 2014. I then ironed on a decal onto a t-shirt that read: I'm the big brother.

Now I think I mentioned that I was awake very early, so I had plenty of time to prep this, drink my coffee and just wait. I left the bathroom light on because it was sort of dark coming down the hallway with the spare bedroom door shut and I wanted Adam to be able to see it. Well, he groggily came down the hall and asked, "what are you doing?". From the look on his face I could tell he hadn't seen the note. So I asked him, "did you see my note", he said, "no", and I told him, "take a walk back down the hallway". From the dining room table I had a really unique look at his face through the kitchen doorway and I saw the realization as he read the note. We hugged a long time and then I showed him the very positive test.

Later that morning, we Facetimed with Vavo and Vavo who just got back from vacation in Cancun with Oliver wearing the shirt! They were very excited!

On Monday February 17th, I told my sister Jocelyn the very same way. She was very surprised and excited, and we were actually able to get a picture of the reaction which was GREAT! We had to tell her so early because I am the matron of honor in her wedding on June 28, 2014 and I have already ordered my dress. This meant calling the dress shop to problem solve and I did not want the dress shop to ask my sister questions or to reference my pregnancy before I had actually told her.

We are hoping to hold out until our first appointment (@9weeks) on March 26th to tell Adam's parents and my brother and his girlfriend.  That way we can have heard the baby's heartbeat and have seen the baby and know all is well.

We are so excited and the information is definitely taking some time to sink in! We have so much work to do before pumpkin gets here, but there could not be a better reason to get  moving!

We love you already pumpkin!

<3 mommy
